I suppose you're all just dying to know what my opinion is on that new all GLBT high school is, right?
Well, I think its ridiculous. Its not progress in any sense of the word; it is as if we're reverting back to segregation. Put the minority in their own school.
I understand that they think its safer, or they'd be more comfortable, but honestly, if the response they're getting is that horrible at their old schools, they should just transfer to a more accepting school. Even at the most liberal of schools they'll be a few people who are uncomfortable with it (maybe not at the _most_ liberal...), but you know, there are still acts of racial violence too.
If you want another, non-race example, think about single-sex schools. I don't approve of them, because I think that it'll just deter the student's ability to relate with the opposite gender (in both platonic and romantic ways) in the long run. I mean, none of my close friends are guys (Zack so doesn't count, and Satin hates me), but I still am very able to communicate with males. And I think a bit like one, but that's a whole nother can of worms.
